Precare: It is best to come after you have had a snack/meal so your blood sugars are up. You may use an over the counter numbing cream prior to your piercing (read the label how long you should leave it on for so you are ready when you arrive).
You’ll pick your jewelry and we will plan the placement
Aftercare: With clean hands, cleanse the piercings with the aftercare solution 2-3X daily, using a Q-tip. Rotate the jewelry completely.
Cartilage jewelry must stay in for a minimum of 12 weeks, and ear lobes for a minimum of 6 weeks. Full aftercare details in section above.

Contra-Indications for ear piercing normally involve the client having a condition which means they might be prone to infection or slow to heal from any potential infections, a physical injury, or some kind of obstruction.
If you suffer from any of the following then medical advice should be sought before having your piercing:
Circulation disorders
High or low blood Pressure
History of thrombosis/embolism
Epilepsy (epileptics must be accompanied by someone if you are to pierce their ears)
Pregnancy
Diabetes
Dysfunctions of the nervous system
Hepatitis
Skin disorders
HIV
Bruises or recent haemorrhage or swelling
Scar tissue or keloids. For old piercing holes, I will assess if they can be done over the scar tissue or not. If we do the piercing over scar tissue, the wait time for healed piercings will be longer.
Warts or moles (you may pierce through freckles)
Cuts, abrasions or recent operations
Eat a light meal and drink plenty of water before your piercing. This can help stabilize your blood sugars which in turn can help you avoid feelings of dizziness or nausea following your piercing
Although you may be tempted to take painkillers such as aspirin or ibuprofen before your appointment, this is strongly advised against. These substances and similar can thin your blood which may increase how much your piercing bleeds. Alcohol can have a similar effect so avoid drinking the night before
Consider your hairstyle. Keeping your hair away from your piercing when it is new can help prevent irritation and other complications. If you have long hair, consider tying it back before the appointment. Alternatively, you could bring a hair tie or headband with you to keep your hair out of the way.
Ear lobes: 6 weeks
Cartilage: 12 weeks
While most piercings are expected to heal within 6–8 weeks, everyone heals at their own pace. If you're still noticing crusting, tenderness, or sensitivity, your piercing likely needs more time.
These are normal signs your body is still healing — so don’t rush to change jewelry or stop aftercare. Always listen to your body, not just the timeline.
Keep Clean & Dry: Wash hands before touching ears or earrings.
Cleanse 3x Daily: Use Inverness Aftercare Solution on the piercing site.
Rotate Earrings: Rotate fully during cleansing to prevent adherence.
Change Earrings:
Ear Lobes: After 6 weeks, you can switch styles. Wear earrings continuously for 6 months to prevent closing.
Cartilage: After 12 weeks, change styles but wear earrings 24/7 for 6 months.
Ongoing Cleaning: Continue using aftercare solution as needed.

Healing may take longer than the standard 6 weeks. If still sensitive after 6 weeks, allow more time before changing starter studs.
We recommend one cartilage piercing per ear per session; additional piercings can be done after 12 weeks.
Follow the same aftercare steps for multiple piercings but take extra care to avoid bumping, pressure, or playing with earrings.
Minimum 6 weeks for earlobes and 12 weeks for cartilage. Follow aftercare instructions during the healing period. The piercing is fully healed after 6-12 months.
Wait until after the healing period (minimum 6 weeks for earlobes, 12 weeks for cartilage) to change earrings to avoid closing or difficulty reinserting.
