If you have a special occasion or vacation, consider getting lash extensions! They eliminate worries about running or clumpy mascara and strip lashes popping off. While they save time daily, moderate maintenance is required.
At Kriya, we offer natural-looking lash extensions that won't damage your natural lashes. Extensions typically look beautiful for 2-3 weeks before becoming sparse. They're ideal for a customized or more dramatic look compared to lash lifts and tints.
Classic: 1 lash per natural lash. Separated lashes, matching the natural lash line. Not suitable for sparse lashes.
Hybrid: Fuller than the natural lash line, combining classic and volume styles. Or can book this for a light volume (no classics)
Volume: Dense, fluffy lashes with thin extensions, customizable for density (6 to 10 extensions per natural lash).
Color: brown or black
Shape: cat eye (longest length at outer edge), open eye (longest length in middle), natural (no longer length emphasis)
Style: "uniform" (the lashes go from one length to the next) or "wispy" (the lashes have varying lengths, a natural look) or "spikey" (intentional longer spikes of lashes)
Length: short, medium, long. Our longest length we use would be up to 13mm. We have longer but only used for spikes.
Curl: We mainly use C curl (a beautiful curve). However, we do have other curls. The curl used will be determined by the technician.
Density:
Classic: Not an option. You can do a "wet set" which is a full set of spikes for a mascara look without adding fluffy density.
Hybrid: Just a bit more density than naturally, can still be a fairly natural set.
Volume: Dense and noticeably darker.
Diameter: ultra natural, natural, "regular", dark. The technician will choose a diameter depending on how natural you want the set to look.
Skin conditions affecting the eye area.
Recent surgical procedures or injuries around the eyes.
Inflammation, swelling, or increased sensitivity in the eye region.
Eye issues such as styes, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and dry or watery eyes, along with hair loss conditions.
Positive reactions to allergy patch tests.
Current chemotherapy treatments.
Wearing contact lenses during the procedure.
Illnesses like colds or allergies that may cause watery or irritated eyes, making lash application difficult.
Asthma, allergies, or sensitivity to adhesive fumes.
If your eye are constantly watery, you may not be a candidate for lash extensions.
Claustrophobia
If you have fluttering eyelids, we’ll minimize conversation during your appointment. If fluttering continues, you may not be a suitable candidate for lash extensions.
There are some situations that might need written medical clearance like chemotherapy within the last 6 months or laser eye surgery.
Please arrive without eye makeup or mascara, as this can interfere with the adhesive and shorten the lifespan of your lash extensions. Clean lashes are crucial.
Do:
Shower before your appointment: You'll avoid water or steam for the rest of the day/24 hours to ensure the adhesive sets properly.
Wear comfortable clothing: You’ll lie down for an extended period in a relaxed environment.
Remove contacts: This will help keep your eyes comfortable during the application.
Turn off your cellphone: Enjoy this time to relax without interruptions.
Don’t:
Wear makeup: Arriving with a clean face saves time and avoids the need for removal. A clean face is ideal but clean lashes are imperative.
Apply creams or sunblock near the eyes: Oils can prevent the glue from adhering properly.
Wear mascara: Lashes must be clean for proper application.
Wear large earrings/big hair clips: They can interfere with your comfort during the process.
Curl your lashes: Keep them in their natural state before your appointment.
Avoid showering, swimming, saunas, and steam rooms for the first 24 hours, as these can weaken the adhesive bond.
Pull, rub, or sleep on your lashes.
Use waterproof eye makeup or mascara.
Use oil-based products or makeup removers around the eyes.
Curl, perm, or tint your eyelash extensions.
Brush lashes daily with a clean wand.
Wash lashes daily (wait 24 hours post-application) using a lash shampoo to remove oils and debris.
Keep lashes away from direct heat to avoid singeing or in worst cases, melting your extensions (e.g., ovens, bbq, curling irons).
Use a sealant every day or every other day. Sealants are highly recommended if you are very active, going on a hot vacation, or don't retain extensions well. Think of a sealant like a clear coat on nail polish, it adds a protective layer against external elements.
Lash shedding is normal; schedule fills every 2-3 weeks to maintain fullness.
Lash extensions are single synthetic strands designed to mimic natural eyelashes, made from a blend of polyester and silk, enhancing both length and thickness.
They are applied individually to your natural lashes using a special adhesive for a natural look, positioned close to the base without touching the skin.
Safe for anyone with healthy lashes and no sensitivity. Better for your natural lashes than waterproof mascara, which can cause damage when removed. Suitable for pregnant women who can lie on their back for about two hours.
They eliminate the need for mascara and curling, providing longer, darker, fuller lashes compared to a lash lift and tint.
Ideal year-round, especially for special occasions. Be mindful of seasonal shedding in spring and fall, which may require more frequent fills.
Properly applied extensions won't harm your lashes. I assess each client's needs to ensure appropriate lengths and thicknesses are used.
No, they are synthetic to avoid animal cruelty and maintain curl when wet.
Quality matters. My certified services use high-quality products, including formaldehyde-free adhesive, ensuring safety and longevity. I prioritize meticulous application for optimal results.
Arrive with clean eyelashes, free of makeup and residue, to ensure proper adhesion and retention.
You’ll relax on a comfortable table with your eyes closed as I apply under-eye gel pads and begin the application.
No, the process is typically relaxing, with many clients even falling asleep.
We'll discuss your desired look and I'll create a custom "lash map" to suit your features.
You can wait for them to shed or schedule a removal. Free removal within three days; after that, charges apply. Contact me within three days for any retention issues.
With regular fills, you can maintain your look indefinitely.
A free patch test is recommended for clients with sensitive skin, 48 hours before the service.
If you experience an allergic reaction, we will remove the extensions at no charge. Please inform us immediately. There are no refunds for allergic reactions once the service is rendered. Returning clients may develop allergies over time and cannot continue with extensions if allergic.
We will begin with a brief consultation to discuss your wish list in terms of length, shape, curl, thickness, set type, colour. I will make recommendations on based on your face shape, age, skin colour, hair color, and what you have for natural lashes. Next, you will pose for “before” pictures.
I will wash your lashes, and we can get started. I put eye pads on to keep your bottom lashes out of the way.
I will meticulously apply your lash extensions and you will lay with your eyes closed for the rest of the appointment.
We’ll finish up by taking some “after” pictures before the big reveal, and wrap up the appointment by checking the calendar for when your to book your fill appointments.
